Jack Lhasa@jjackowens· 19hThink you’ve got it right. The last year on SubStack has seen. The addition is 3 features no one asked for, and did nothing but alienate the writers there. Writers who didn’t have a need for short videos, or podcasts, or AI detector that is another AI and lie about its own accuracy. Pangram claims a 90+% accuracy. I ran experiments including over 30 articles ran through Pangram. Not one was correctly identified. Not one in 30. Most weren’t difficult, like an article I wrote that was flagged as 100% AI, and one that was fully generated with no changes from me that it ID’d at 100% human. As I went in u mixed AI into writing in different ways, but Pangram never recognized the mixes. What each of these new features had was a negative effect on the community. Video and podcast formulas were obviously pandering in to a completely different kind of user. The Pangram integration caused 6 months of arguments as to the ethical implications it brought along with several new authors that were being courted by the largest publishers, suddenly developed rumors of possible AI content. Two lost multimillion dollar publishing deals. Just because of of rumors, these brand new authors had careers destroyed forever and lost lucrative contracts with major publishers. Pangram brought with it only suspicion. It didn’t decrease slop(which I’m almost certain has nothing to do with AI, and is actually the result of normal living people who are just bad writers). By embracing an AI judgement machine that could only be used by authors and readers, and no result that would actually punish the users in anyway, absolutely destroyed the community. It caused months of frustration from authors, and created a space where any article about AI becoming the norm.

Engineering Strategy

It's almost reInvent with a good pre:Invent week 🚀☁️ #91
In the previous issue, AWS Serverless MCP Server with Lambda event-source mapping 🚀☁️ #90 we looked into the ESM with Lambda. Image from Adobe Stock AWS Lambda announced a powerful new Tenant Isolation Mode that completely transforms how you build secure, multi-tenant SaaS applications. If you run multi-tenant applications on Lambda (think workflow automation or code execution platforms), achieving strict tenant isolation was often a manual headache involving complex custom routing or even deploying a dedicated function for every single tenant. Why SaaS Teams are Cheering: Stop Building Custom Solutions: Ditch the complexity of managing per-tenant routing logic or siloed function deployments. Ironclad Isolation: Instantly meet strict security and compliance requirements by ensuring compute resources are isolated per tenant. Focus on Features: Spend less time on operational complexity and more time building your core product. ⭐ Pick of the month This month’s Pick is “Lambda optimization and performance“. Chris Ebert published a blog on comparing AWS Lambda Arm64 v/s x86_64 performance across multiple runtimes and how the choosing between the architecture of your Lambda can optimize it for performance. Jones Zachariah Noel N (author) explains different factors which can account for maintaining Lambda function performance during peak traffic and how ALBs and API Gateway play a role in this architecture choice. 🚀 AWSome content to learn from Guille Ojeda debunks the concepts of DynamoDB - partitions, sharding and split for heat which specially talks about fundamentals DDB design for production scaling. Petri Kallberg’s blog You don’t need NAT gateway to deploy Lambda into VPC that helps us understand about the configuration changes with IPv6 CIDR block, subnet and route tables with ipv6AllowedForDualStack on Lambda. Renato Losio breaks down the AWS Outage from Oct 19-20th with the race condition in DynamoDB DNS system that eventually brought almost all of us-east-1 down. Darryl Ruggles dives into Aurora DSQL - Build a Serverless multi-region e-commerce platform also going over containers > Lambda for this and DSQL configurations. Mohit Deshpande breaks down how you can design EDA with Amazon Evnetbridge with better security from organization level goverance with SCPs to going as granular as service level secure rule patterns. James Eastham and Luciano Mammino share from experimental to GA: Rust on Lambda and Our Road Ahead focusing on Rust support going GA on Lambda and how it’s evolved in from the experimental state. ⚒️ What's happening with Serverless tools, samples, and projects Lee Priest has an update with CDK Insights. Ran Isenberg wiht Python 3.14 support on Lambda with aws-lambda-env-modeler library. AWS Lambda roadmap goes live. 🎙️ Podcasts, videos and live-streams Sandro Volpicella puts together a good breakdown of pricing of AWS DSQL Serverless SQL Database. Avvai Priyan take on Serverless 2.0 is changing DevOps forever. Veerasolaiyappan V explains Serverless E-Commerce order process system with Python. Eric Johnson and Julian Wood on pre:Invent 2025 edition of Serverless Office Hours. Manoj Fernando explains the new Lambda tenent isolation mode. On AWS Developers Podcast, Sébastien Stormacq joins Jas Narula for testing AWS Step Functions locally. 🗓️ Mark your calendars AWS Community Days are happening - ACD Kochi on December 20th, 2025. ACD Israel on January 15th, 2026. (CFP open until November 15th, 2025) 📢 What's new in Serverless AWS Lambda announces Provisioned Mode for SQS event source mapping (ESM). AWS Step Functions enhances Local Testing with TestState API. AWS now supports Node.JS 24, Java 25, Rust and Python 3.14. AWS Lambda announces enhanced error handling capabilities for Kafka event processing. Amazon API Gateway REST APIs now supports private integration with Application Load Balancer. Announcing Amazon ECS Express Mode. Announcing AWS Lambda Kafka event source mapping integration in Amazon MSK Console. AWS Lambda announces new tenant isolation mode to simplify building tenant-aware applications Amazon API Gateway adds Developer Portal capabilities. Amazon API Gateway now supports response streaming for REST APIs. Amazon API Gateway now supports additional TLS security policies for REST APIs. 👨💻 Word from the author Thanks for the support and let’s share more about Serverless!!!
